Assessment
An evaluation of the individual based on interviews with family members and others. Many highly personal questions are asked about the individual and all those concerned. All information is treated with the strictest confidence.
A treatment plan is then proposed, providing for 1) selection of an appropriate facility for intensive inpatient or outpatient treatment, and 2) continuing, long-term case management. The choice of a facility depends upon the age, sex, condition and financial circumstances of the client. This stage can take from 2-7 days.
Intervention
A process of confrontation in which the individual is urged to embark upon an immediate course of treatment. This may be a group effort or take place on a one-to-one basis. It may or may not involve a facilitator/interventionist. Designed to be loving and supportive as well as firm, intervention either results in a positive action or begins a process which eventually leads to treatment.
Admission to the treatment facility, handling pre-admission requirements and, if necessary, accompanying the individual to the facility, are part of this process. As a member of the treatment team, we actively participate in the individual's progress at the facility and the formulation of an aftercare program. This stage can take up to 4-6 weeks.
Case Management
The planning and maintenance of an ongoing aftercare program promoting healing and growth. To this end, we identify the best and most appropriate professionals and provide advice in areas such as finances, physical fitness, nutrition and family care. This stage can take up to 4-6 months.
